24th August 2016: Listening to Owen Smith debate with John Humphreys on BBC Radio 4 this morning was a sobering experience.
Owen Smith wants the EU final negotiation results to be put to the Country and Parliament.
Humphreys went for him hammer and tong….a thing he often does and I admire him for it, but this time I detected a bit of anger a bit of something else….maybe a touch of his Brexit soul….maybe I’m wrong.
However I support Owen Smith in his stance on the referendum and the Governments determination to force a Brexit at all costs.
Humphreys battered him with Democracy and likened Smith’s stance to re-running Parliamentary Elections every time the result doesn’t suit someone.
That is a bogus argument of course….Parliamentary Elections are for a few years only and misbehaving governments can be kicked out at any time.
What is facing the country is the unknown, the last referendum result on Europe lasted for around 40 years, and so may this. In a changing world you need to get these things right and information based on red bus slogans is simply not enough.
This Brexit is not like anything the UK has done before, we don’t know the outcome (there are many, many surprises around the corner), this government may start negotiations and not finish them, etc etc.
Many Brexit voters are muttering about being mislead…..this must now be put right….because another 40 years on the end of a bad decision could be disastrous.
Let’s negotiate the best deal we can and put all that information to the British people and Parliament to accept or reject.

24th June 2016 – Britain chose Leave and defeated the Remain camp by 52% to 48% in the referendum yesterday, with the results being announced this morning.
It was Human Instinct vs Common Sense and the animal instinct won.
The rhetoric from Nigel Farage in grossly divisive this morning “a victory for decent people”, what the hell does that mean? The other 48% are indecent?
His view of Britain is not that of decent people and there lies the trap the 58% have fallen for.
Farage says it is “Independence Day”, the problem is he has won Independence from our biggest trading partner. We stand or fall on our trading results….how is that any victory.
The younger generation have been let down badly by this vote and there futures have been sold cheaply on instinct alone. This is not a General Election where if you make a voting mistake it can be put right five years down the line. We are stuck with this idiocy and those who could not cast a vote yesterday will probably pay for it during their working lives.
Not a thing to do in the modern world, we have so much in common with our neighbours it defies belief that this generation should make such a momentous decision without knowing the consequences.
The Treaty of Lisbon allows two years to negotiate an exit and this can be extended as each EU member has to debate and pass the negotiations. It took Greenland three years and that was a very uncomplicated case. Today marks the start of years of uncertainty and disruption and no one can foretell the outcome. What a prospect for us and all of Europe.
But they may also stick to the two years and say “enough is enough, take it or leave it”.
As we step into the unknown with a deeply divided Nation, let us hope this is not the break-up of the EU beginning, which is a force for good and a staunch supporter of peace.
We have left it behind and risked a dismantling of the UK.

The brothers do like a punch-up
It seems that when it comes to getting cocktails, the people of Las Vegas don’t do waiting.
That’s if this bizarre incident is anything to go by.

Hundreds of people put on a fight night worthy of Las Vegas when they got tired of waiting in the queue for daiquiris at the opening of the Fat Tuesday bar in the Resorts World casino on Friday.
Videos posted on social media show patrons hurling abuse at each other, throwing punches and tossing chairs and bottles.

Tony McSweeney: A paedophile priest. Pic Credit:rapevictimsofthecatholicchurch.files.wordpress.com
While the latest horrors over Jimmy Savile dominated the headlines,a Roman Catholic priest became the first person to be convicted as a paedophile under the Met Police’s Operation Fernbridge.
The investigation into both the notorious Elm Guest House and a Richmond Council children’s home, Grafton Close, saw Father Tony McSweeney convicted on a specimen charge of indecent assault and three charges of making indecent images of children on his computer. He was cleared of three other charges of indecent assault.
The trial would have been much bigger if not for the death of his co-accused John Stingemore had not died just before facing prosecution. Stingemore,as my colleague Tim Wood who reported the trial for Exaroshows, was portrayed by McSweeney as a paedophile. and it emerged in court that Stingemore had already been convicted as paedophile for the sexual assault of Peter Borshin, a…

Just when the US was on the brink of sending real arms to Ukraine, Putin agrees to and ‘arranges’ a cease fire. Some see this as Obama forcing the Russian warlord’s hand by threatening proper support of Poroshenko’s Government.
There is some truth in that because Vlad may want a pause in the continuation of this one-sided war, it allows him to carry on bringing in heavy armaments onto his neighbours territory, plus all the supporting logistics needed for his 9000 ‘ghost’ troops there. He has full authority over the borders where his rebels have ceased control. But Ukraine gets nothing to defend itself. What sort of agreement is that – it’s a capitulation in a 1930’s way.
The cease-fire will not last long, just long enough for the Ukrainian troops who are encircled to be destroyed and for the Russian President to organise sham elections in his Novorossiya.
The return of all rebel held territory to Ukraine at the end of 2015 (part of the new Minsk agreement) will never happen, it would be a betrayal of what Putin wants – which is a return to the CCCP Empire.
The agreement is an attempt by some NATO countries to be seen to do something, but they will just have to sit and hope that the man who has lied and broken agreements before will somehow this time submit to a change in behaviour – absolutely no chance.
The little ex KGB meddling wheeler-dealer will continue to lie to the world. The Russian people – who have been under the yoke of leaders like him for generations – know nothing else. Their sons will continue to die in Ukraine with no acknowledgement of what they have been ordered to do.
As usual the weakness of Democracies to make unpalatable decisions when opposed by a Dictator are fully exposed here, and history will condemn both sides.
